Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. She began her Broadway career performing in musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. Her role in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in a Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director has spent most of her professional career working alongside prominent directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently in the making for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson. The film will be released as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford is set to return in 2023. He will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the show. Ashford was most recently seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The show centers around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as the central figure in the first impeachment proceeding in America during the Over 100 Years. Ashford appeared for two seasons on the CBS hit comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary actor Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Other Broadway credits for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded the Tony Award nomination. Ashford, who was brought up in Denver, now spends time between Los Angeles and New York.
